The Zapatista Movement is a Timeline Event that can occur between 1994 and 1996.
Every year while the event is happening, there's a chance that a worker strike will take place on the island as people began to seek non violent means to provide power to the people.
History[]
In 1994, the Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (Zapatista Army of National Liberation) declared war against the Mexican government, which they consider out of touch with the general population. Although they originally sought a violent rebellion, a ceasefire was called within 2 weeks and the EZLN became a non-violent social movement, seeking greater democratization and indigenous control over local land. Using the internet, the movement has garnered international support, especially from left-wing and anti-globalization groups.
