For buildings of the same name in other Tropico games, see Wind Turbine.
Wind Turbines provide non-polluting electricity to the island, while providing a magical form of electric distribution similar to Electric Substations.
Produces between 10MW to 40MW of electrical power based on its altitude.
- "The people will no longer complain that they cannot follow the 50 hour speech marathons of El Prez on TV due to blackouts. Behold our mighty Wind Turbine - it may have high upkeep, but the air that powers it is imported from the United States and has 30% more freedom in it!"
- "The Wind Turbine provides electricity based on the altitude of the terrain."
Place on high ground. Electrical power is magically transmitted to an existing electrical grid, regardless of substation connections. If the only power source then substations will be needed to extend the power to user areas. Though expensive to build and maintain, the power is consistant, unlike real world wind turbines. Advantages being pollution free and space saving, compared to a power plant, if you have higher terrain to build them on.
Electric Substation power radius=25,000(~500 feet) is its measured range by lua file which seems to be a 'large range' using the overlays. Wind Turbines are power radius=15,000(~300 feet). Garbage Dumps overlay radius(large area) being ~400 feet.
