Police Stations are workplaces for policemen, which can arrest Tropicans at the request of El Presidente, incarcerating them at a Prison; or patrol the streets keeping the citizens in line which reduces crime.

Modes

Normal Training: "Policemen gain experience at normal rates."
Special Ops Training: "Policemen gain experience faster, but their job quality drops by 15%."(-9 Job Quality)

Description

The Station comes with some junk(boxes) and décor(flag/benches); the net effect is neutral for beauty. Trash and trash-cans between benches may appear.

Description:

"Safety is one of the primary concerns for every tourist. After all, no one likes to end up mugged in a dark alley. When you expand your island paradise, be sure to build some Police Stations in crowded, shady areas around Tenements, Factories and Night Clubs."

Rollover:

"Your police officers will raise crime safety in the area."

Strategy

Place near Crime trouble spots; the Dock being a good example then surround it with Tenements and entertainment buildings that may become crime magnets. The Station will crush crime in a ~50 foot area, reduce most crime out to ~100feet, having some effect out to ~150 feet, and maybe a tiny noticeable effect out to 200 feet, with perhaps 300 feet being the limit of its range.

1 Policeman employed is enough to gain the crime fighting area of effect. A second is advised to ensure a worker shortage doesn't cause problems, more policemen are helpful if you are arresting citizens. Policemen will patrol the road network immediately after arriving for their duty shift, if connected to a road. When not connected to a road they may simply end their shift and proceed to their next want/task based on their needs. Not connecting the station to roads is an option to reduce traffic congestion, but the policemen are less efficient at arresting citizens.

Speculation: There is perhaps an imperceptible effect on crime over a policeman's patrolled route or wanderings; too difficult to tell with the crime overlay update interval but perhaps the lua file for policemen may shed light on it.
