For buildings of the same name in other Tropico games, see Dock.
Docks provide storage for goods to be exported and the arrival port for immigrants.
Trash and Dumpsters may appear. Unemployed Immigants use the front doors exiting whichever door is closer to their destination. Those Immigrants that are assigned a job use the Garage. Back door is for Dockworker Export deliveries to the crane; may take several trips to empty the Dock Export Storage.
- "Without a dock there is no real economy on Tropico. Everything you produce will be carried to the Dock by your Teamsters and sold to an outgoing freighter before the cash starts rolling. Poor immigrants also arrive at the Dock with hopes of a better tomorrow."
- "All produced goods are exported through the Dock. Immigrants arrive here."
The first Dock is preplaced. Unemployeed Immigrants needing food upon arrival can be catered to with a nearby Fisherman's Wharf or Marketplace. A nearby Clinic can also be helpful in intergrating sick Immigrants into the workforce.
An extra Dock can be placed if player isn't satisfied with the location or desires multiple Docks. More Docks means more ships/year; a more steady stream of immigrants and Teamster traffic issues can be addressed if Docks are on opposite sides of the island.
Docks attract Crime which can be mitigated by a nearby Police Station or Guard Station.
