The Commandos are Tropico's Special Forces. They're well trained, professional and El Presidentes most loyal soldiers, and will defend the country in the event of an invasion, uprising or coup. They can garrison the Palace (if upgraded from the colonial Elite Infantry) in the World Wars Era, and the Defense HQ from the Cold War Era onward.

The Defense HQ commandos can be upgraded into Special Forces in the Modern Era.

Their effectiveness can be raised temporarily by issuing the Military Drills edict.
