For buildings of the same name in other Tropico games, see Bunkhouse.
Bunkhouses are buildings in Tropico 3 and Tropico 4. Their quality is considerably better than shacks and shanties, being on par with poorly maintained tenements. Bunkhouses are also the cheapest form of housing that can be rented out to citizens. Their small maintenance cost means they can earn a profit even with a rent of $1/month.
Bunkhouses are also very useful for filling in tight places with extra housing, as they're very slim and long, and hold a good number of people.
The words on the side of it mean something approximating "for rent, cheap".
- Normal Maintenance: Maintains the building as best as possible.
- Roach Patrol: Allows the building to fall into a state of disrepair, reducing the housing quality by 30%. While this would normally reduce the upkeep as well, bunkhouses already have the lowest possible upkeep, making this work mode useless.
Reduced Housing Quality(17) of Roach Patrol mode and making it free is a means to house students and unemployed without using the Social Security edict. On gaining employment most citizens will quickly move into better housing if available.
