USSR Bogged Down in Afghanistan

USSR Bogged Down in Afghanistan is a Timeline Event that can occur from 1980 to 1982.

While the event is happening, no imports will be brought in from the USSR, due to needing to keep its resources during the war in Afghanistan.

In the early stages of the Soviet war in Afghanistan, the USSR occupied the country with their soldiers and expected the presence of the army to pacify the nation's people. Instead, the occupation arose nationalist sentiment in many Afghans. The riots and uprisings took the USSR off guard, forcing their soldiers to deal with growing unrest. Due to the long and failed nature of the war, it's sometimes referred to as the "Soviet Union's Vietnam War."
