The US Bombs Libya

The US Bombs Libya is a Timeline Event that can occur from 1986 to 1988.

While the event is happening, no imports will be brought in from the Middle East, as production in the region is halted by US air strikes.

During the 1980s, Muammar Gaddafi was regarded by many as a threat to the US. The dictator was known to be supportive of various extremist groups, was aligned with the USSR, and was feared to be in the process of developing nuclear weapons. Though the US had occasional military skirmishes with Libya for years, it wasn't until it was discovered that Libyan agents were directly involved in the bombing of a German night club that US president Ronald Reagan ordered a direct strike on Libya itself.
