Cuba Goes Red

Cuba Goes Red is a Timeline Event that can occur from 1953 to 1956.

While the event is happening, foreign aid from the USSR is doubled to support the newly communist Caribbean nation.


After a decade of crime, corruption, and stagnation in Cuba under president Fulgencio Batista, Fidel Castro led an attack on an army base in 1953. The attack failed and led to his arrest, though he was given amnesty and released in 1956. Within a year of his release, Castro had fled to Mexico, met Che Guevara, and headed back to Cuba with another band of revolutionaries to start rebelling against Batista again. After 2 years of guerrilla fighting, Batista fled Cuba in 1959, allowing Castro to take over.
